The Cyber Essentials Scheme was developed by HM Government in conjunction with select industry bodies and experts to help UK organisations to protect themselves from Cyber Crime.
As part of the UK’s National Cyber Security Programme, Cyber Essentials was developed and written to help organisations to mitigate common internet based security threats including malware, social engineering attacks and hacking of all types.
As an annually verified assessment of an organisations security controls, it will not only help you to defend against the most common attack vectors, but will demonstrate to your clients, investors and the world at large that you are committed to securing your data.
Cyber Essentials became a mandatory requirement for organisations delivering Central Government contracts that involve the handling of personal information and also for certain ICT services, advertised since 1 October 2014.
There are two levels divided into:
- Cyber Essentials – Self Assessed
- Cyber Essentials Plus – Assessed by a Certifying Body
As a certification body, TecSec offers full consultancy to provide in-depth security knowledge and assessment services that are required to become Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus accredited.
How will it help your organisation?
As we hear more often of attacks on companies and of data breaches with far reaching effects, it is becoming increasingly important not only to maintain systems for themselves, but also to be able to demonstrate this to clients.
TecSec will ensure that you correctly achieve the certification at which point you will receive your certificate and also be able to display the appropriate badge on your website, documentation and emails.
